Immouzer waterfalls via Paradise Valley

A spectacular journey up into the foothills of the Atlas mountains,it needs a full day to do it justice, lunching on the terrace of the Hotel Cascades overlooking the valleys below. Take swimwear and tennis gear as diners can use all hotel facilities. Dont forget cameras! Cheap fossills en route, but also beware some may be fake colours.

Tamri, en route to Essouaria

Visit a working Argan oil press and sample the local wild blossom honeys. Continue on to the wonderfully trendy windy city of Essouaria, with superb souks and cafe life on the main square. Also known as Marakesh on Sea!

Souss Massa reserve, south ofAgadir.

Pink flamingoes, the rare Bald Ibis and many other wading and migrating birds are amongst the delights that await you here. Consult reference books in the house for best times of year to visit.

Taraoudant

A lovely 'mini' Marakesh about two and half hours drive inland. Visit hotel' Palais de Salam' on arrival for a refreshment/lunch break before hiring an official guide to tour the souks. Excellent bargains for the brave barterer and so much cheaper than Marakesh.

Tafraoute

This is well worth the distance involved. Allow a whole day for the round trip inland and southwards towards the desert, and back along the coast via Tiznit. The views of the ever changing coloured mountains, kasbahs on hilltops and sleepy villages punctuated by the call to prayer resonating in the valleys is truly an experience not to be missed if you can fit it into your time here.

Agadir

Is a modern continental style resort with a newly extended promenade which runs the length of the bay. Cafe life and a comprehensive array of international cuisines is available. Superb beaches, safe bathing, jet skiing, sailing, surfing all catered for. In the main tourist areas there are plenty of tourist shops, and excellent Hotels all of which allow non residents to access their pools, and facilities for a daily fee. Night life is good with lots of clubs and bars to visit, but , as in any holiday resort worldwide, note that alcohol is expensive and beware of taxi rip offs.

Aourir

Get all your souvenirs here. They are genuine and cheaper than in Agadir. The weekly souk on Wednesdays is a worthwhile visit for food shopping, fruit, vegetables, eggs, spices. Meat is good quality and refrigerated at the booth next to the blue roadside 'Bistro' cafe on the main road toward the roundabout. It is used by locals and tourists alike at all times of day, and because of its high turnover freshness is guaranteed. Amble up the road towards Immouzzer to the left at the roundabout, to find two excellent souvenir shops on the left, and other kiosks selling the local round bread and biscuits. Charcoal for your barbeques, and tagines from £4/60dhs are excellent value.
At the supermarket and patisserie in the Bab Aourir complex you can get all other provisions for you stay. There is also an ATM cash dispenser at the Bank.
Good restaurants are the 'Tanit', at weekends with local musicians entertaining while you dine. The 'Baraka' is one of the best authentic Tagine restaurants to visit in the whole area, with many Agadiris visiting at weekends when it gets very busy in Aourir!! You may also order a Tagine here to eat at home, just return the tagine the next day!
